Daniel Cueto will be visiting Grand Valley State University to offer a talk for GVSU composition students, as well as a masterclass for flute students who are performing his music. The residency will culminate with a recital where the GVSU flute studio and Daniel Cueto will collaborate on performances of Cueto’s compositions.

Mexican flutist Alhelí Pimienta will perform the premiere of PROBLEMA, a work that she commissioned Daniel Cueto to write for her. The premiere of this new work for solo alto flute will take place at Mexico’s largest flute event - the Festival Universitario de Flauta Transversa, hosted by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

The Peruvian ensemble SUNQU QUINTET will perform Daniel Cueto’s wind quintet PUMA at the Festival de Cartagena, Colombia.
The Iowa City Flute Choir will play FANTASIA ORIUNDA in their end-of-year concert at the Iowa City Public Library.
The acclaimed Sylvan Winds quintet will be performing a concert at the Hispanic Society Arts Museum (3741 Broadway, NYC).

Peruvian flutist Carlos Tantaleán will perform Daniel Cueto’s solo work PRISMA in a recital titled “La Vie D’Artiste”. The recital will take place at the Paraninfo Arequipa, and admission is free.
The Iowa City Flute Choir, a semi-professional community flute ensemble, is excited to present its fall concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. This performance will feature mostly newer compositions written for flute choir, plus one orchestral transcription from 1898. Most of these compositions connect to the Earth and the diverse world we have created upon it. Positive energy radiates from this musical ensemble, guaranteeing listeners will leave with a warm holiday spirit.
Notable pieces on the program include Fantasía Oriunda, written by Peruvian composer Daniel Cueto. “Oriundo” in Spanish translates to “native”, an appropriate title for this piece combining elements from the Peruvian musical genres of pregón, tondero, and yaraví plus impressions of the Venezuelan joropo and the Mexican wapango. This piece is a celebration of Latin American unity and will surely awaken a lively spirit for the beginning of the concert.

Os oboístas William Wielgus e Ian Davidson apresentarão as SONQOY VARIATIONS de Daniel Cueto em seu recital no Centro Cultural da Justiça Federal (Rio de Janeiro).
William Wielgus foi membro da seção de oboé da Orquestra Sinfônica Nacional de Washington 1990 a 2017, sob indicação de Mstislav Rostropovich. Antes de sua nomeação com o NSO, ele também atuou como oboé principal da Sinfonia de South Bend e corne inglés na Sinfonia de Oklahoma. Atualmente, ele trabalha na faculdade de oboé da American University e lecionou na West Virginia University e no St. Mary's College. Ele também participou de muitos dos principais festivais de música de verão, incluindo Aspen, Tanglewood e Spoleto, e foi o vencedor do Aspen Woodwind Soloist Competition de 1990. Ele está envolvido ativamente em um projeto para pesquisar, encomendar, executar e gravar música de oboé peruana e apresentou recitais nos conservatórios de Lima, Trujillo, e Ayacucho. Ele é Oboé Principal da Orquestra de Ópera de Austin e Trompa Inglesa e Oboé Principal Associado da Orquestra Sinfônica de Austin. No verão, Ian atua como Oboé Principal no Victoria Bach Festival, Blue Lake Festival e Solo English Horn no Bear Valley Music Festival. Outros compromissos incluem passagens como Oboé Principal da Orquestra de Dallas Bach, Ópera Lírica de Dallas e Austin Sinfonietta, bem como Oboé Principal Assistente da Orquestra de Ópera de Santa Fé, Oboé Principal da Orquestra de Câmara de Dallas e Oboé Principal do Texas Bach Festival.
